About the Orchestra

The Blue Ridge Orchestra is comprised of accomplished amateur, semi-professional and professional musicians who volunteer their time in an effort to make orchestral music more accessible to the community.

Our Music Director

Milton Crotts joined the Blue Ridge Orchestra as its Music Director in 2011.  Milt has taught and conducted at Davidson College and UNC Asheville, where he currently directs the orchestra, the wind ensemble, and the game band.  With his doctorate in conducting and over two decades of symphonic experience, Milt has led orchestras around the United States and in Tokyo, and Guam.  Originally from Western North Carolina, Milt’s relationship with music extends beyond the podium and classroom.  His sense of adventure manifests itself in creative programming and a willingness to explore concert venues that will bring orchestral music closer to more audiences.
