Fund Drive Announced at Holiday Concert

Dear Parents, Parents of Alumni and Alumni,

As announced at the recent Holiday Concert, the Asheville-Buncombe Youth Orchestra is in the midst of a fund drive with a goal of raising $20,000 before the spring of 2010.

As we enter the closing of 2009 we send this message of needed help for our local, regional youth orchestra.

In this time of financial challenges, it is extremely important to fortify our important existing institutions and particularly those that support and nurture our youth. I encourage you to make a tax-deductible donation to our orchestra before the New Year.

We do need your help!

Donations should be written to the Asheville-Buncombe Youth Orchestra and mailed to:

The Asheville-Buncombe Youth Orchestra
8 Amelia Court
Arden, NC 28704

Thank you for your support!

Asheville-Buncombe Youth Orchestra under the direction of Ronald Clearfield

The Asheville-Buncombe Youth Orchestra is a thirty-year-old organization that serves five counties in Western North Carolina and includes public, private and home-schooled students. Over sixty students playing string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments practice weekly during the school year and showcase their talents in four annual performances.

Since its inception, the orchestra has graduated more than a thousand students, 25% of which have gone on to study music in colleges, universities and conservatories. Dozens have pursued professional careers in music.

Ron Clearfield, an accomplished cellist, composer and conductor, is an honors graduate from the New England Conservatory of Music and has been Music Director and Conductor of the Youth Orchestra since 1994. Mr. Clearfield is also the Music Director and Conductor of the Blue Ridge Orchestra as well as the UNCA Symphony.

All concerts are free and open to the public. Please join us in supporting these wonderfully talented young people. The Youth Orchestra is a 501c3 non-profit organization, which is in part supported by the Buncombe County and Asheville City School Systems but also depends on private and corporate donations.

For additional information please contact Ron Clearfield by phone (828-683-4425) or
by email.
