The Asheville-Buncombe Youth Orchestra was formed in 1985. It serves more than five counties in Western North Carolina and includes public, private and home-schooled students. Over sixty students playing string, woodwind, brass and percussion instruments practice weekly during the school year and showcase their talents in four annual performances.

Since its inception, the orchestra has graduated more than a thousand students many of whom have gone on to study in major conservatories and universities. Dozens have pursued professional careers.

Ron Clearfield, accomplished cellist, composer and conductor has been its Music Director since 1994. Mr. Clearfield is also the Music Director of the Blue Ridge Orchestra and was recently appointed Music Director for the Asheville division of the Symphony for United Nations.

All Asheville-Buncombe Yourth Orchestra concerts are free and open to the public. Please join us in supporting these wonderfully talented young people.

2008-2009 INFORMATION FOR MUSICIANS:

Snow and Vacation Policy
   If Buncombe County schools are closed or on break, no Youth Orchestra that Evening.
   For late developing snow, call 254-7046.

Concert Dress
   White shirt and black pants or white blouse and black skirt.  Black shoes only.

Attendance
   If you have to be absent for a rehearsal, it is your responsibility to notify
   Mr. Clearfield, 683-4425.
